Description from InkSlinger PR:
Meena has a secret guarded closely by her family—a secret as dangerous as the sea and buried just as deep. When court-appointed community-service workers are assigned to Flukes, the family-owned animal sanctuary, everyone is on high alert. It doesn’t help that Meena finds herself attracted to sexy-as-sin Blake Weathering, one of the new workers. If he wasn’t so distracting, she might be able to land Flukes a much-needed cruise-line contract.
Blake Weathering, the first in his family to attend public school, has developed a tough image. Unfortunately, it lands him in trouble. Now banned from his high school graduation ceremony, getting his diploma is dependent upon a community-service gig cleaning up fish crap. No diploma, no trust fund fortune—and no way to escape his overbearing father. The last thing he needs is the distraction of a mysterious girl with teal eyes who pulls at his heartstrings.
When Blake discovers Meena’s secret, they are both thrown into a desperate search for information about her past. Two worlds pull them in opposite directions, and they will have to fight to hold on to all that really matters.

Review:
I am so, so, so, so, So, SO happy that I agreed to review this book! There is something about mermaid books that I have always loved and I knew I was going to love this one. My favorite part was probably that this is my first New Adult mermaid tale (no pun intended). I absolutely loved that the romance steamed up QUITE a bit in the end. When I read the warning that this book wasn't intended for young readers I was definitely intrigued, but in the beginning I thought maybe the warning was exaggerated. In the beginning, the romance is like a young adult romance. There is flirting, nervousness, etc., but once the heat kicks on the warning rings true, especially the last chapter. I loved it.
If you've ever read a mermaid book before, you know the romance is fast. It's insta-love. If you've never read a mermaid book, here's your warning. If you don't like insta-love, this may not be the book for you. I mean, you kind of have to expect it since the story is only 162 pages long. There is only so much time we can give them to get to know each other. If this wasn't a mermaid book I would be peeved with how quick they fall in love, but since I understand the reasoning behind it... I'm good.
I found Meena, her parents, her best friend, and Blake all to be extremely lovable. This was such a nice group of characters who blended so well together. I love how awesome Meena's parents are that they took Blake in so easily. They really thought of him as part of the family before anything even happened between him and Meena. I also love that Meena doesn't really know everything about her abilities, life, etc., so we learn along with her.
It appears as if this is a stand-alone, which is fine since it ends pretty nicely, but I seriously hope there are more installments. At least one more. I absolutely loved the storyline, the characters, and the writing style. This was such a sweet, addicting, fast read. I enjoyed every minute of it and I hope to read more from Nichole Chase.
Overall:
I absolutely loved this story! Hopefully you have read mermaid stories before, or you enjoy insta-love, because that is what you get with Flukes. I normally complain about insta-love when when it isn't sold to me properly, but mermaid stories always sell it for me. I understand the circumstances behind it and always enjoy it. I loved all the characters, I love that there is more plot than romance in this short amount of time, and I love, love, LOVE the romance between Meena and Blake. I seriously hope that more installments will soon follow, but if not it was a fantastic story. I will definitely be looking more into Nichole Chase and I hope you do too!

Excerpt:
His kiss surprised me, but I quickly sank into it. His mouth was like magic, chasing away all my doubts and fears. Without thought I spun to face him, bracketing his legs with my own. I fisted my hands in his hair and kissed him back. With each touch, I felt a fire growing in my stomach. His hands slid down to my hips, pulling me closer to him. When I felt him pressed against me, I couldn’t help the groan that escaped.
“Chaque nuit tu hantes mes rĂªves.” He whispered the words against my mouth. I didn’t know what he’d said, but God, it was sexy.
“What does that mean?” I leaned back while he trailed kisses down my throat.
“You haunt my dreams, Meena. I dream about you every night.” His mouth came back to mine and the rest of my thoughts were lost.
