Question of the Moment 113

Have you ever read a book on a topic you have never read about before? What was that experience like?

The book I am reading this book is about a topic I haven't read about. Racism and survival of the fittest. After solar radiation reaches a new high civilization has to live underground. Due to the levels of radiation the race with the highest population is those of African decent. The story is narrated by a white female who must mate before she turns 18 or she will be exiled out of the community, because she is white she is treated like dirt. The African American's are the ruling class. The darker your skin the higher on the chain you are. If you are white, you aren't even aloud to show your true skin color. I have never read a novel about this kind of apocalypse and I haven't definitely never read a novel that dealt this highly with racism. It is definitely a very different topic and harsh topic. I am very interested to see how it will all end and if it is a novel I will end up liking.

So have you ever read a book about a topic you never read about before? Let me know in the comments below =]
