Description from Goodreads.com:
A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created 'perfect' life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.

Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.

In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

Review:
Perfect Chemistry is such a cute story! I am so happy I am new fan of Simone Elkeles, because I cannot wait to read the other books in this series (that everyone loves) for the first time. I also can't wait to read the rest of the books by Simone. I love finding new authors to fan-girl over =D.

Alex and Brittany's story was an unexpected romance, but at the same time it wasn't too unexpected. Once you got to know them both you knew they had a lot in common and that they only had each other that they could confide in. This made their relationship not too far fetched. The fact that they kept so much inside and hidden from others, but that they could tell each other made my heart melt.

This was a very emotional story. The last couple of chapters really pull at your heart strings and it almost had me crying. A lot happens that you don't expect to happen and a lot that you don't want to happen either. I would talk more about it, but I don't want to give anything away. Just know that my heart goes out to Isa.

Another thing that I really enjoyed was that even though the characters have very deep lives and personalities the book wasn't too heavy. These characters felt very real, but they didn't weigh down the story, it still felt light. The only thing that really made this book fall just short of a five star review was Alex. He just wasn't as drool worthy as I wanted him to be. I have read one other book by Simone Elkeles and that bad boy had me drooling all over the place. Alex was great, but I think he was just a little too rough for me. I did, however love all of the Mexican culture that Elkeles included in this book. It really made it feel authentic.

Overall:
I really loved this book. It was such a cute story about an unlikely pair falling in love. This book is packed with emotions and almost had me crying at one point. The only thing that fell a little short was Alex's drool factor. I think he was just a little too rough around the edges for my taste, but overall I really enjoyed his character. This book definitely reinforced how much of a huge fan of Simone Elkeles I am!
