The Indie-Credible Book Tour with Special Guest ~ LIZ LONG

The Indie-Credible book tour is a month long tour that started on September 1st and will go till September 30th. It is hosted by Little Read Riding Hood and Creative Deeds Reads. The purpose of this book tour is to highlight some amazing indie authors and to showcase just how indie-credible they are. Each blog stop is featuring a different indie author so make sure to stop by them all and to click the banner above to see the full tour list.

The indie-credible author that I was lucky enough to be paired with is the beautiful and talented...

...*drum roll*...

Liz Long!!

She is the author of Witch Hearts and (my favorite) Gifted: A Donovan Circus Novel. Liz Long is a very dedicated author who even goes as far as turning off her WiFi to keep from being distracted while writing. When she gets writers block she goes to the good old fashioned version of writing; paper and pen. Her motivation to keep writing is the positive reinforcement that her adoring fans give her, but be aware that if you do tell her how much you loved her work you will be attacked with exclamation points and be offered homemade cookies, even though Liz is a terrible baker. Her favorite book is Harry Potter and it was the inspiration to make her start creating her own works of art. Her favorite Disney princess is Belle, which wins me over hands down. The best piece of advice that she has ever received (which is also the best advice I have ever heard) is to "write what you want to read." Liz stands by that advice and even says, "I'd pick my book up in a store and I swear I'm not saying that just because."

Like stated before, my favorite book by Liz is Gifted: A Donovan Circus Novel
Gifted is about a girl named Lucy who was born with the gift to control and create fire. Her dream is to go back to the circus life, and when she finally does return everything seems perfect. That is until troupe members start turning up dead, and the prime suspect is Lucy. Gifted is an amazing book that had me hooked from page one. If you would like to read my review of it go HERE

Since I enjoyed Gifted so much it only seemed fitting to make our indie-credible post, like the book, circus themed. SO without further ado I welcome you all to...

The Kissing Booth!!

Hi everyone! Thanks so much to the fantastic group that is the Indie-Credible authors and bloggers hosting this event this month – and HUGE thanks to Becky, who I am so excited to be paired up with! Because Becky enjoyed my first book, GIFTED, a Donovan Circus Novel, we wanted to go with a fun carnival theme today. And in the carnival, we’re visiting the KISSING BOOTH! (Cue the wolf whistles here.)

In Gifted, Lucy gets comfortable in her new circus life and falls for two guys. Keegan, the handsome brunette Firestarter with green eyes and a Boston accent, is the honest nice guy, the one who would bend over backwards to make his girl happy. Gabriel, on the other hand, is the hot bad boy Empath with a Southern drawl, blond and brooding, with a lot of mystery behind his wall of wit.

These two boys couldn’t be more opposite, each of them vying for Lucy’s affections in different ways. Readers have been surprisingly adamant in their choices, giving me different reasons for why Lucy should pick one or the other. Let’s just say there are pros and cons to both boys.

Many readers love Gabriel’s sarcasm – Lucy sees his conversations as aggravating, though he insists the challenges he gives Lucy is so she can see the truth in their current situations. He’s frustrating as hell, a womanizer, and knows far more about things than he lets on. He’s also an Empath who avoids his gift, as he doesn’t want to get caught up in emotional affairs, his only goal in life to stick to his lone wolf persona.

With Gabriel, it’s dangerous and fun. He’s sexy and knows how good he is at everything. He is fierce and passionate, impulsive. He and Lucy butt heads on everything because they are so alike, both avoiding emotions and confrontation. They challenge each other—even if they are frustrated with the other, they still find them to be witty and intelligent, sometimes proving good points they hadn’t considered. (It’s like verbal sparring.) He is smart and knows the world pretty well—at least the downsides of it from his past, which we’ll learn more about as the series continues.

Keegan, on the other hand, is a Firestarter like Lucy, who understands her trials and tribulations when dealing with her emotions and fire. He’s the preppy sweater to Gabriel’s motorcycle jacket, kind and considerate, the ultimate nice guy who will do everything in his power to protect and support his friends. He’s a team player, so to speak, and fights for what he believes in rather than avoiding confrontation. Keegan also likes to have fun and keep things lighthearted.

Lucy feels safe with Keegan. He would never let anything happen to her, would do anything she asked. He’s so eager to please her that it’s easy to be with him. He’s always complimenting her, wanting her skills to go far and supporting her choices. Some worried he was too much of a nice guy, but I’m happy to say that in BURNED, book 2 of the series, he manages to not only grow a backbone, but stand up for himself - even to Lucy when she’s giving him the runaround. (He surprised even me!)

In fact, these two boys are so opposite that the only thing they truly have in common is Lucy. Both care for her well being, no matter what happens, and it’s why Lucy is having such a difficult time choosing who she wants to be with, as both make her happy in different ways.
What say you, readers? Who would you pick at the Kissing Booth? Dark and sexy Gabriel (who’s bound to tease you enough to make you want to shake him) or sweetheart Keegan (who will cuddle with you afterwards)?

About the Author:
Liz Long is lucky enough to have a dream career in magazine publishing as an editor and writer, yet still have time to create adventures on the side. If you catch her staring off into space or talking to herself, don’t worry – it’s just her imagination at work.

Liz graduated from Longwood University with a BA in English, though her professors might be disappointed to hear she reads more fantasy fiction than literary novels. She also loves action and thriller genres. Her books might not change your life, but she hopes they steal you away from reality for a while.
