BBReview: "Georgina Kincaid 1: Succubus Blues" By Richelle Mead

Genre: Adult - Paranormal/Urban Fantasy
Publishing Date: March 1st, 2007
Page Count: 343
Source: Borrowed from local library
Format: Paperback

Description from Goodreads.com:
When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic. At least there's her day job at a local bookstore--free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can't.

But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle's demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won't help because Georgina's about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny. . .

Review:
Oh my god, I cannot believe how much I absolutely loved this book! It was so awesome to read about a succubus, as I have never read a book with one as the main character, and I cannot wait to read the rest in this series. The pacing was absolutely excellent as it wasn't too fast or too slow. It was steady and consistent, and I read it in basically one day. The character development through the book was done very well and I really got to know all of the characters, including side ones. Georgina is such a great main character. I loved how much humility she had for being a demon and just how much she kicked ass.

The love interests that are given to us in this book were great. I definitely had a favorite, but don't worry in the end there will not be a love triangle. I was very shocked that for an adult novel about a succubus there weren't very many sex scenes. I honestly thought there was going to be smut on every page, but I actually found myself begging for a sex scene. I'm not saying this was at all bad, I absolutely loved the moderation of it, but it was just very surprising. It was nice to see Richelle Mead took the approach of showing that just because she is a succubus, it doesn't mean she is a sex crazed demon.

I really enjoyed the ending and how/where it left the reader. I couldn't  believe what happens in the end and was speed reading to know what was going to end up happening. I am so freaking happy that I check this book out from the library, because I honestly didn't think I was going to like it all  and now it is one of my new favorite series that I will be binge reading.

Overall:
I am ecstatic that I gave in and checked this book out at the library. This was an absolutely amazing read and is one of my new favorite series. I will definitely be binge reading the rest of the books now. Don't let the cover fool you, it may look like a cheesy, outdated read but it is so not! My favorite thing about this book? Surprisingly it is not dripping in smut. I expected a sex scene in at least every chapter, but there were actually very few. I loved how there were flashbacks to Georgina's past so that we got to know her better and I loved how we get introduced to so many other paranormals as well. I highly recommend this to all those who love paranormal, especially those looking to go from YA to adult.
