Like the title says, I went to Apollycon, I saw Apollycon, and I conquered Apollycon!
It was seriously FAN-TASTIC! Fantastic in the sense that the entire event was awesome, but also an amazing experience for fans.
You get to meet all your favorite authors in one spot, get all your books by them signed, and talk books with other fans? How much better could it get?
So, I guess we will start from the beginning: The struggle of getting all the books you want. The easy part was going through all of my personal books and pulling out the ones that haven't been signed by the authors who will be there. Its free and all I have to do is pack them in my suitcase. The hard part is picking and choosing which books to buy. There were some books by my favorite authors that I was for sure buying, because I didn't have a personal copy (A Court of Thorns and Roses and Halfway to the Grave).
Then I had to decide what to do with the authors whose books I only had e-books of. I decided to have my Apollycon T-shirt signed by those ones, because then I could still get their autograph. Except for K.A. Tucker. With her I bought my two favorite books by her so I could have hard copies (Ten Tiny Breaths and Surviving Ice). A really good idea I saw happening at Apollycon for those who had e-books was that they were having the author sign their e-reader case. SMART! The next hard part was deciding what new books by new authors to buy and have signed.
Once those decisions were made, it was easy street. Time to head to Savannah, GA!
Here is my fiance and I waiting to get in to Apollycon. He's my own personal Drepe [Drew (Seth) and Pepe (Daemon) combined].
Next, the signing! It was seriously amazing. We got V.I.R. (Very. Important. Reader) passes which meant we got extra swag, early access to the signing, and entry to the after party. Here are some of the photos I took.
[Left] Drew (Seth), Jennifer Armentrout, Me, and Pepe (Daemon)!
I was smart and made Jennifer's line the first place I went. They were all so ridiculously nice, they all signed my 10 books, complimented my bag, told me how my fiance is a keeper since he carried all my books, and Jennifer even remembered me from her other signings!
K.A. Tucker and I.
Sarah J. Maas and I.
I don't have photos of the other amazing authors I met (Kami Garcia, Cora Carmack, Jeaniene Frost, Alexandra Bracken, etc.,) but I did get their signatures. It was seriously a great time. In comparison to BEA, there were exaggeratingly less people, but the lines were almost just as long, because the authors actually took time to meet you and talk with you. It wasn't just boom, bam, thank you ma'am. It was a really nice experience.
Next, the after party!
This is where there was food, games, giveaways, and more!
The most exciting event was the cover reveal for the third book in the Titan Series, The Struggle. We were the first ones to see it.
Ta-Dah! It's beautiful!
Then there was trivia for all of the covers, and life-size cut-outs. It was a really good time.
Eventually the night came to an end, but I brought home an amazing haul!
Look at all that stuff! AH!
Overall, I had an amazing time and I cannot wait to hopefully do it again next year. This just gets me more pumped for BEA this year! If you get the chance to do something like this DO IT. I promise it will be worth it!
